join us for three days as she shares her brilliant knowledge of asana in the power yoga/vinyasa/ashtanga tradition and as she leads us into an exploration of the core teachings of yoga. in addition to the three physical practice sessions (friday, saturday, sunday) she will guide us through several discussions of the yoga sutras of patanjali -- the text that provides the philosophical and practical foundation for all modern yoga practice.

We are all surrounded by toxins and pollutants so keeping the vital organs in good physical shape and the immune system strong is essential for an active, healthy life. A strong, rajasic (active) vinyasa flow yoga practice is a powerful ally in keeping the body/mind running smoothly. Healthy diet and organic foods are critical but so is a method of strengthening the system and cleansing the tightness, toxins, and tension that we endure in our environment day after day.

Join Beryl in a lively and enthusiastic exploration of the ancient wisdom of the Yoga Sutra. Far from boring, this is the way to study Sutra – with an inquisitive group of fellow practitioners, seeking the answer to “Who am I?” Unlike any experience you’ve had with Sutra Study. Bring your favorite translation of the Yoga Sutra and be prepared to read and participate in discussion.

Are you Awake? - Putting Your Practice to Work in the World - – Asana, meditation, and short discussion
What does it mean to be awake? It means to be aware, conscious, observing. The revelation comes when you realize that “who you are” is not your thoughts, your stuff, your profession, or your bank account. It is the moment you get unstuck from your incessant mind chatter, if only for a moment, to possibly have an experience of yoga, of Boundlessness. Yoga – in its inner limbs and deeper stages – has very little to do with gymnastic abilities. Yoga is finding the answer to the question, Who Am I? This experience takes you beyond personal fixation to a greater concern for the well being of All. It is then that you can take your practice off the mat and into the world for the greater good!

Step into a warm, quiet, candle lit sanctuary at Just Plain Yoga and rest your overworked and overstressed mind and body. The emphasis of this specialty class is on dissolving tension, soothing your nervous system and cultivating stillness. Deep Relaxation is achieved by moving through a series of slow and gentle yoga postures and then restoring your well-being by using props (blankets, cushions and bolsters are provided) to create positions which will take you into a deep state of relaxation.
Please wear seasonal layers that are extremely comfortable. Bring a pair of clean socks and an eye pillow, if you have one. NO yoga mat is needed for this practice. |
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION AND SELF HEALING RETREAT with BHANTE SUJATHA

description: join us at JPY for a four hour training in mindfulness practice with bhante sujatha.
The retreat will begin with a discussion on mindfulness and self-healing, the topic at hand. This will be followed by a guided meditation. (Participants can expect a short break determined by Bhante before the lunch break at some point.) The will be another discussion after the sitting meditation.
(We will take a half hour lunch break when appropriate.) A walking meditation possibly after lunch.
More discussion after lunch. This will be followed by another guided meditation (if time permits). For the end, Bhante will do an exercise with everyone in which participants will share their personal insight if desired.
Overall Bhante will share his wisdom related to mindfulness and loving kindness to promote self-healing.
Bhante Sujatha is a Theravada Buddhist monk originally from Sri Lanka. He is the founder of the Blue Lotus Temple in Woodstock, IL.
