JUST PLAIN MEDITATION - UNDERSTANDING MEDITATION - SIX WEEK SESSION with RON BLOUCH
what is meditation? how can i learn about it?
understand it.
if you learn best by having an overview and understanding of a subject you will find this class invaluable. if you have been meditating for a time and would like to better understand your practice you will find many answers here.
in six once per week classes we will learn about meditation by working with a very simple meditative technique and use that experience as the basis for learning a new way to think about what meditation is and how it works.
understanding the structure of meditative practice, how your mind works while it is meditating, how seemingly different meditations all come from the same place, and what you might actually experience when you are practicing greatly speeds your success. most importantly, it keeps you meditating when you encounter things that might otherwise be unexpected.
just plain meditation is taught in plain language and without unnecessary cultural or religious content. great respect, however, is held for all of the meditative traditions. completing the course will enable you to have an understanding of what it is possible to achieve through meditation and how to get there yourself.
thursdays, 7:15 to 8:30 pm, next session begins 2/16/12
$72 for six classes,$30 for returning students

JUST PLAIN MEDITATION - THE EXPERIENCE OF MEDITATION - SIX WEEK SESSION with RON BLOUCH

what is meditation? how can I learn about it?
experience it.
if you prefer to learn by doing rather than studying you will find the experience of meditation to be a powerful introduction to meditation and meditative technique. if you have been meditating for a time and would like to experience and understand how different forms of meditation affect your mind you will find many answers here.
in six once per week classes we will use short individual and guided meditations to create a series of powerful meditative experiences and prepare you to practice on your own.
you will experience many of the benefits of meditation – including relaxation and increased focus -- in the very first class. you can think of these six weeks as an experiential exploration of meditative forms and styles. you can also know that slowly and gently, over the duration of the session, it will become clear that although each meditation is seemingly different, each meditation is actually doing the same thing using the same core elements of your mind.
exploring many different meditations for yourself in a safe atmosphere with an experienced teacher will allow you to see how your own perfectly unique and individual mind responds to each meditation. hearing the experiences of others during class discussion will allow you to see just how unique all of us really are!
open discussion between meditations will provide the opportunity for questions and assistance but the emphasis in this class is on simply doing meditation and allowing you to have your own experience. we all bring different skills and abilities to the practice and you will find, by the end of six weeks, which meditative form takes you where you want to go.
just plain meditation is taught in plain language without unnecessary cultural or religious content. great respect, however, is held for all of the meditative traditions. completing the course will enable you to understand what it is possible to achieve through meditation and how to get there yourself.

PRENATAL YOGA - six week session with MELINDA ZAMBOTTI, RYT-200
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Ron here: Having just watched the effects of twenty plus years of yoga practice on the experience of pregnancy and birth I can tell you that what I saw was truly an amazing thing. Tina's experience of labor and delivery in particular was a testament to the calming and strengthening of the body that yoga creates. Her ability to experience the process of delivering our baby with a truly quiet mind and strong healthy body was one of the most beautiful things I have ever been a part of. Please let Melinda guide you towards the same kind of quiet strength that will fortify you as you build, deliver and raise your child!
Please join us for class and enjoy the benefits of prenatal yoga:
• Practice gentle yoga postures that are safe for you and your baby
• Meet and share experiences with other moms-to-be
• Calm the mind as you prepare for birth
• Increase strength, flexibility, and peace of mind as you prepare for the demands of pregnancy and motherhood
• Bond with your baby
forces of gravity and metta (loving kindness) to encourage the body to let go of fear and tension
Students are requested to have a familiarity with yoga. No partner necessary!
Melinda says: Prior to my first pregnancy in 2007, I had been practicing yoga for six years and had been a Registered Yoga Teacher for one year. Looking back, I am so grateful for the influence that yoga had on both of my pregnancies. Prenatal yoga nurtured me with all of the benefits listed above and now I feel honored to share this experience with moms-to-be. I have completed the YOGASTEPS prenatal continuing education class and, more importantly, I have experienced first-hand the calming and uplifting results of practicing yoga during pregnancy. I look forward to supporting you and your baby on this amazing journey.

FROM FLOW TO SLOW! - THREE DAY WORKSHOP with TYMI HOWARD
Which is it? Do we move constantly as we do our yoga or do we stay still? Why limit ourselves to one or the other? Let's do both!
Join Wanderlust Yoga Festival presenter and master yoga teacher Tymi Howard as she returns to JPY for three days of fun, sweat and yoga bliss!
From Friday evening's strong Vinyasa flow beginning through Saturday afternoon's Yin Yoga class back to Sunday morning's flowing finale Tymi brings her vast experience, training and love of yoga to each moment as she guides us into all that yoga has to offer.
Her impromptu visit to the studio last summer took us deeply into the long holds and power of a Yin Yoga practice. This July she'll show us how to move and flow with three vinyasa classes - in addition to returning us to the still silence of a deep Yin Yoga practice. Her confidence, poise, the beauty of her own personal yoga practice and her joyful presence are infectious and help make every moment in her class a chance to find your own bliss!
Please note that because Friday evening's class requires prior yoga experience we have created special pricing for the remainder of the weekend to accomodate those who cannot attend. Details below.
Friday evening, 6-8 pm
Hot Hip and Holy: This challenging specialty class is for the yogi who desires more than what the standard yoga class offers. Burn away all the obstacles that clutter the mind and fog the mirror of the soul. Wring out the toxic emotions that build up and stagnate within the body. It has been our direct experience that an intense asana practice and deep stretching/opening poses will bring about these changes. * Must have been practicing flow based yoga for at least 6 months, and have a good working knowledge of backbends, headstands and inversions.
Saturday morning, 9:15 - 11:15 am
Holy Happy Hips: Often we hold tension, stress and emotions in our hips, so in this creative deep vinyasa sequence you will gently and playfully open the hips through a flowing dance of standing and seated asanas!! Get ready for love, bliss and freedom in the hips like you've never experienced before!
Saturday afternoon, 2 - 4 pm
Yin Yoga: Specialty class WHAT IS YIN YOGA? Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect compliment to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.
Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to twenty minutes! Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.
Sunday morning, 9:15 - 11:15 am
Master Vinyasa Flow: All levels. A Classic Power Vinyasa Flow Class, with some breathing, meditation and tons of music and bliss thrown into the mix. All levels are welcome, as always practice at your own abilty and honor your body.
Tymi Howard, 500hr ERYT is the Owner and Director of Guruv Yoga, the premier yoga studios in Central Florida.
